Those hoping for an epic Jennifer Aniston/Angelina Jolie showdown at the Academy Awards will have to wait for another year — because both ladies got snubbed when the nominations were announced on Thursday!
Jen has gotten public and critical acclaim for her role in Cake, but was left off the list of Best Actress nominations, despite her nod at the Golden Globes and upcoming Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. Instead, it was Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Reese Witherspoon (Wild), Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Felicity Jones {The Theory of Everything) who received nominations.
Meanwhile, Angie second directorial attempt for the buzzed-about Unbroken was also looked over, and didn’t get nominations in both the Best Director and Best Picture categories.
Two more shocks? The lack of nominations for Selma, a biopic about Martin Luther King Jr., and the overlook of Jake Gyllenhaal for his role in Nightcrawler.
