Having two babies back to back can really take a toll on your body, but for Jessica Simpson, it was just an opportunity to show critics how great she is at bouncing back! The fashion designer has been showing off her fabulous figure, which she proudly obtained with help from Weight Watchers, for months now, and is opening up about the transformation.
“I worked really hard because I wanted to appreciate being in a wedding gown again,” the 34-year-old, who wed Eric Johnson over the summer, tells InStyle. “I wanted to enjoy it like I did the first time. But I didn’t have a weight goal; I just wanted to look healthy.”
And, she says, the desire to shed the pounds didn’t come from her husband’s insistence. “I’d been scrutinized about my weight before I got pregnant, so I refused to let anyone steal the joy of my babies,” she explains. “My husband and I were looking at old pictures recently, and I asked him, “Babe, why didn’t you tell me to put the brownie down?” He said, “You looked great.” He’s always loved every curve on my body. And we’ve always had a healthy sex life.”
So, how is the mom of two maintaining her figure now that she’s reached her goal? “I work out five days a week: three with a trainer, doing a mix of strength and cardio, and then I do cardio on my own the other two days,” she reveals. “Somehow I make it work, but I’ve slowed down since my wedding.”
Also in the interview, Jess reiterated that she and Eric aren’t planning on having anymore kids. “Having two kids back to back was hard on my body,” she admits. “But if I do have more, I wouldn’t want them to read this and think they weren’t wanted!”
