With two directorial efforts under her belt (2011’s In the Land Of Blood and Honey and the upcoming Unbroken), Angelina Jolie is pretty much a pro, but her latest project has some different challenges than the previous ones! The actress is currently working on By The Sea, in which she also stars alongside husband, Brad Pitt.
“Compared to Unbroken, this film is a walk in the park,” she admits to DuJour Magazine. “The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad. It’s hard, dramatic material and we’re balancing.”
By The Sea is the first film the newly-married couple will costar in since they met on the set 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. “It’s a heavy film and it’s not easy for us,” Angie says. “But even as you struggle through it, you’re in the trenches together and you don’t expect it to be easy. We’re challenging each other and that’s a really good thing.”
But despite the challenges she’s faced directing, the 38-year-old says that position is where she feels right. “I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera,” she reveals. “I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m happier.”
She adds that the plan is “absolutely” to give up acting completely.
