Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are rock royalty — and with an 18-year romance under their belt, they also have one of music’s most stable unions. But the pair recently had a huge fight when the No Doubt singer discovered that Gavin has secretly been communicating with his 1980s transgender pop star ex, Marilyn.
The Voice coach realized the truth when Gavin innocently told her that Marilyn had past on his best wishes to their family. “Marilyn sent belated congratulations on their latest addition [son, Apollo],” dishes a source, ” and Gwen exploded. She doesn’t want Gavin being associated with an ex, even if it’s innocent.”
The blonde beauty — who is also the mom of sons Kingston and Zuma — became even more upset when her hubby confessed that the conversation wasn’t a one-time thing. “Gavin admitted he’s kept in contact with Marilyn and that they talk from time to time,” the friend adds. “Gwen couldn’t believe it. She was already embarrassed by their affair, and she doesn’t understand why they still need to speak.”
The Bush frontman famously admitted to his romance with Marilyn in 2010, stating that they had dated in the ’80s when he was a teenager. “When you’re 17 — Jesus Christ, I don’t think there’s anything strange about any form of anything,” he said. “You’re learning about life and it’s a part of growing up. You have to know what you like, and I know what I like.”
