The verdict is in, and Teresa and Joe Giudice is headed behind bars!
Judge Esther Salas ruled on Thursday that Joe will serve 41 months, almost three and a half years, in prison, while his wife was given 15 months, for fraud. The ruling comes from a July 2013 39-count charge against the couple, which included conspiracy to commit fraud and making false statements on loan applications.
“I am more sorry than anyone will ever know,” Teresa told the judge while breaking down in tears. ” deeply love my family. My four daughters are my life. I’m scared. I’m not going to deny it. I’m really scared.”
During the hearing, the judge admitted to considering probation for the Real Housewives of New Jersey star, but decided “a period of confinement is absolutely necessary in this case.”
Additionally, Joe will have to pay over $414,000 in restitution and enter alcohol treatment while in prison.
The judge did agree to stagger the couple’s sentences, so one parent will be available to care for their four daughters throughout the ordeal. Teresa will serve her 15 months first, beginning Jan. 5.
