Is Shia LaBeouf finally getting his act together?! After months of strange behavior, the actor made headlines in June for disrupting a performance of Cabaret in New York City, for which he was arrested. Despite originally entering a “not guilty plea” to charges of trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment in the second degree, Shia appeared in court on Wednesday with a different decision in mind.
Instead, the 28-year-old entered a plea deal and pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to six months of outpatient alcohol treatment (he’s already completed three), and must have no new arrests for the next six months. If he obliges, the arrest will be erased from his record (but not from our memories, sorry, Shia).
Just days after the arrest, Shia’s rep announced that the Fury star was seeking treatment for alcohol addiction.
“Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction,” the rep said. “He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps toward recovery.”
