“It’s something I came so close to not doing,” she explained. “I had a really great thing with film. People say be grateful for what you have, but it was certainly not the kind of thing I was expecting it to be…I’ve kind of seen it all.”
Indeed, after starring on the show for three years, the now 28-year-old learned about the downside of fame — her arrests for drunk-driving and drug possession were splattered across headlines. She exited the Fox drama before its final season.
Since then, Mischa hasn’t booked any major projects, and says the public’s perception that she was an ‘overnight success’ is the reason for that. “People think they are overnight successes even when tons of blood, sweat and tears and years of ground work goes into it,” she told the mag. “Which I find really strange about society in general. They think it’s an instant thing…where you work really hard for these things.”
