In recent interviews with Ellen DeGeneres and Marie-Claire magazine, Mila Kunis openly talked about her pregnancy and relationship with fiance Ashton Kutcher — but her candidness may stop there. According to a reporter from The Star Ledger, who also recently interviewed the actress, she wasn’t exactly forthcoming.

It all started at the very beginning, when Stephen Witty asked the Jupiter Ascending star how she was feeling — something she discussed at length with Ellen. “I don’t talk about that for publication,” she told him, in a tone that he described as “coldly.”

The hits just kept on coming or Stephen, who later questioned whether or not the fact that Mila’s recently starred in three films outside the Hollywood system meant she was heading for a career shift. “Not really, because in the middle of all that I still did Oz: The Great and Powerful,” she said. “And I still did Jupiter Ascending, so that sort of destroys your assumption.”

At that point, the reporter notes that he could feel his subject “growing even more impatient,” and things got worse when he asked her about moving to America from the Ukraine at age 7. “I’ve talked about moving to America in a hundred interviews,” she explained. “It’s the most mundane subject possible, it’s like everyone’s immigrant story. It was much harder for my 13-year-old brother, it was much harder for my parents.”

She added, “You’re going to ask me what I think about what’s going on now in Ukraine. Just because I lived there until I was seven doesn’t mean I identify with Ukraine.”

Before finally warming up, Stephen says Mila got annoyed yet again when he mentioned her taking on more challenging roles. “I hate when people ask me this question,” she said. “People have this misconception that comedy’s easy…I’m always looking for challenges and I find a lot of things to be challenging.”

After that, it seems things started going a bit better. In fact, at the end, when Stephen says he apologized for making her so upset, she told him brightly, “No, no it was a good interview!”

Could this just be a case of miscommunication?
