An allergic reaction to sinus infection medication — that’s the official explanation for Miley Cyrus’ recent hospitalization, which has caused her to postpone her remaining US Bangerz tour dates until August. But some of the singer’s friends aren’t buying the story!
“Some of us think that she’s run herself into the ground,” a pal tells Star. “That her body was so overloaded from the partying and drugs, that she’s actually in the hospital going through a detox program.”
According to board-certified ear, nose and throat surgeon, Dr. Alen Cohen, the 21-year-old’s lengthy hospital stay is very rare, and would indicate an incredibly serious allergic reaction. However, he notes another possible reason doctors might want to keep a close eye on Miley: “To monitor her and make sure she isn’t taking drugs that would worsen the sinus infection,” Dr. Cohen explains.
For now, the “Wrecking Ball” singer is still scheduled to kick off the European leg of her tour in Amsterdam on May 2. Still, by then, she would’ve spent more than two weeks under medical supervision.
