Those paying careful attention noticed something was off during the Rascal Flatts’ performance at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday. Well, it turns out the speculation is true — the band admittedly lip-synced their performance during the show after lead singer, Gary LeVox, lost his voice.
“After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary lost his voice,” the trio tweeted. “So, instead of canceling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync. We’ve never done it before, and we’re obviously not very good at it. We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!”
The country group performed their most recent single, “Rewind,” at the awards show.
