Don’t expect to see Chris Evans in any role that’s not his Captain America character! The actor, who previously revealed he wanted to take a break from acting once his time as the Marvel superhero was up, told Variety he’s now ready to leave the career behind for good.

“I’ve known for a while I wanted to direct,” he admitted. “But [time] never really opens up. There’s another movie to do, another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what — I have to do this.”

He’ll make his directorial debut in 1:30 Train, in which he also stars. After that, though, he’ll strictly be Steve Rogers. “If I’m acting at all, it’s going to be under Marvel contract, or I’m going to be directing,” he explained. “I can’t see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I’m contractually obligated to do.

That doesn’t mean his time on the big screen will be up any time soon. Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters on April 4, immediately after which he’ll begin shooting Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. A third Captain America film is also due out in 2016.
