So much for being done with public life, huh? Just days after Alec Baldwin announced in a New York Magazine essay that he doesn’t “want to be Mr. Show Business anymore,” it’s been revealed that he’s booked another acting gig.
The 55-year-old will star on an episode of Law and Order: SVU, which will be directed by the series’ star Mariska Hargitay. This will be his first acting job since 30 Rock ended more than a year ago.
According to E!, the actor will play a New York newspaper columnist who questions the SVU crew’s motives during an investigation. The script brings him head to head with Mariska’s Olivia Benson, and also features Katie Couric.
“I’ve watched Alec on screen for so long and always hoped we would be able to work together some day,” Mariska said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to tell this story with him, having him bring his experience, depth, truthfulness and fierce commitment, honestly feels too good to be true.”
