Is American Idol about to face the same fate as The X-Factor? The Fox series faced a ratings all time low on Thursday, when only 9.2 million viewers tuned into the hour-long broadcast.
The episode completed Idol’s first-ever “Rush Week,” and the season’s Top 13 contestants were revealed. Still, the rating slipped to a 2.4 out of 7, which was down 20 percent from even last Thursday’s show.
For the last few years, the hit reality singing competition has had a noticeable ratings decline, while NBC’s The Voice has continued to see an increase in viewers. Fox recently decided to cancel Idol’s fall counterpart, The X-Factor.
