Broadway has its new Cinderella! On Sunday, Carly Rae Jepsen announced that she will be playing the lead role in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella beginning on Feb 4. She’s been signed on for a 12-week run in the show.
The “Call Me Maybe” singer will replace Laura Osnes, who received a Tony nomination for the role. “Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale,” Carly said in a statement. “These last few years have been a real fairytale come to life for me, so I feel especially blessed to play this part and be reminded that you must never stop dreaming.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that The Nanny star, Fran Drescher, will also be joining the show as Cinderella’s stepmother.
