Duck Dynasty Cast Fires Back After Phil's Suspension

Duck Dynasty

On Wednesday, A&E indefinitely suspended Phil Robertson from filming the hit show Duck Dynasty after he made controversial remarks about homosexuality in GQ. Now, the rest of the redneck family has released their own statement, in which they defend their patriarch.

“The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision,” the statement reads. “We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief in the Bible in His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible.”

The Duck Commander crew goes on to explain that without their founder, there is no show. “We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right,” they continue. “We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that mean for the future of Duck Dynasty.”

Duck Dynasty’s fourth season just ended, with its premiere episode attracting the most viewers for a nonfiction cable show in history.
