After NeNe Leakes posted a photo of herself with IVs sticking out of both arms on Monday, fans have been wondering what’s going on with the Real Housewives of Atlanta star. Thanks to a post from the reality star herself, though, the wait is over just one day later.
NeNe revealed that doctors found blood clots on her lungs, but luckily, she caught them quickly enough for treatment. Had she not, though, things could’ve been much more serious.
“First and foremost, I so dearly love and appreciate each and every one of you for your concern and your prayers,” she wrote. “Late last week I wasn’t feeling well and was feeling a little short of breath. I know my body and I know when I should be concerned so I went to the hospital to get checked out. After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung. I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job.”
The explanation echos what a fan previously posted on Twitter, suggesting that NeNe’s grueling schedule is what made her sick. “I work my butt off,” she confirmed.
“I’m thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening,” the blog post continued. She also added that, contrary to what reports said, she did not suffer a heart attack.
The New Normal star concluded by assuring that she was home with her family.
