The Bachelorette: Did Desiree Get Engaged...and Who is the Next Bachelor?!

Chris Siegfried & Desiree Hartsock

After having her heart broken in part one of The Bachelorette season finale, Desiree Hartsock continued her journey to find love with either Chris Siegfried or Drew Kenney on Monday night’s final episode. But did she walk away with a big ol’ rock on her finger?

Things started with Des continuing to cry over Brooks Forester breaking up with her and leaving Antigua before their Final Three date. Considering Des thought she was in love with Brooks and saw a finish line with him, she was completely blindsided and taken aback, but decided to spend more alone time with both Chris and Drew before giving up.

After seeing Drew during their final date, Desiree realized (practically immediately) that he wasn’t the guy for her, so she sent him home right then and there, without even giving him a chance to impress her family. Things with Chris were different, though, and from the get-go of their private time, it was obvious that she had much stronger feelings for him. So, without knowing it, Chris was the only guy The Bachelorette welcomed to meet her family.

The baseball player won over the Hartsock clan (even Des’ brother, Nate, whose bad attitude had a lot to do with Sean Lowe sending her home last season), and even got permission from Des’ father to pop the question.

And later on — that’s just what he did! Of course, we had to sit through ten minutes of tears and confessions of love first, but in the end, Desiree accepted Chris’ proposal, and during the After the Final Rose live ceremony, the couple revealed that they’re still together now. In fact, Des is even moving to Seattle to move in with her man!

Before we could close the chapter on this strange season of the show, we had to stick around and find out which of Des’ suitors would become the next Bachelor. Despite not being on one one-on-one date with Desiree, fan-favorite Juan Pablo Galavis was announced as the next lucky guy who will try to find love on the show. Things seem to be working out well for Des and Sean as of now, so hopefully the hunky dad with the accent to die for can be just as lucky.

Congrats and best of luck to Des and Chris!
