Selena Gomez's Album Passes Jay Z & Reaches No. 1

Selena Gomez on tour

She already has a No. 1 song, and now Selena Gomez can add a No. 1 album to her list of accomplishments. The singer’s fourth studio album Stars Dance reached No. 1 in its first week, selling 97,000 copies.

The 20-year-old is the youngest, female solo artist to reach No. 1 since Taylor Swift, who was 20 at the time, in 2010. Additionally, Selena knocked Jay Z’s album Magna Carta…Holy Grail off the top spot, where it had been for two weeks.

To celebrate the success of her album, Selena posted a photo with her Stars Dance tour crew. “#1! From the Stars Dance tour and lil G… THANK YOU,” she captioned the pic. The tour kicks off on Aug. 14 in Vancouver and won’t wrap up until the end of November.
