“Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers ofGlee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith,” Fox announced. “We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.”
Although Lea is clearly heartbroken over Cory’s passing, she consulted with Glee writers and producers to decide how to continue with the show. In her ultimate decision, Lea followed the well-known showbiz mantra “the show must go on.” Glee will premiere it’s fifth season on Sept. 26, with the third episode addressing Cory’s character’s, Finn Hudson, death in a tribute episode to the actor.
Cory passed away suddenly on July 13 after intaking a fatal dose of heroin and alcohol. Since then, Lea has been mourning with his family in private, but it’s great to see her also surrounding herself with the Glee family during this difficult time.
