Selena Gomez may not have seen Cory Monteith every day on the set of Glee, but the “Come and Get It” singer considered the actor a friend after they co-starred in the 2011 flick Monte Carlo. After Cory’s sudden death over the weekend, Selena took to Twitter to remember her on-set pal.
“This hurts,” she tweeted. “I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.” With the heartfelt message, Selena included a photo of she and Cory embracing on the red carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards.
Although Selena and countless other celebrities have opened up about Cory’s passing on Twitter, his Glee co-stars have stayed quiet for the most part. Cory’s BFF on the show Mark Salling tweeted, “going through a million memories and emotions today. ill love you always Brother Cory,” while Matthew Morrison dedicated a song to his co-star during a concert on Sunday.
Lea Michele, who not only stars alongside Cory in the show, but is his girlfriend off-screen, has yet to comment on the tragedy, but released a statement through her rep asking for “privacy during this devastating time.”
Cory was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on Saturday after missing his scheduled check-out time. A cause of death has yet to be determined, although police have ruled out foul play. A coroner will commit the actor’s autopsy Monday, July 15.
