Ruben Studdard hasn’t exactly been super successful since winning Season 2 of American Idol in 2003, but now he’s turning to a reality competition show that’ll hopefully yield more positive results. The singer is set to compete on Season 15 of The Biggest Loser, airing this fall.
Ruben has spoken about his struggle with obesity, and although he once had success with a vegan diet, his divorce in 2012 reportedly really took its toll on the Idol alum. Because Ruben has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. in his family, he wants to work at being healthy while he’s still young enough.
Speaking of American Idol, we’re still left in the dark about who’ll sit in the judges seats next season, with Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj all already confirming their departures from the show. Rumor has it that show alums like Jennifer Hudson and Clay Aiken will be taking on judging roles next season, but nothing has been named official as of yet.
