Following her time on American Idol, Mariah Carey was all set to release her new album this summer, but it looks like that date is already getting pushed back. The singer announced on Monday that her new music simply won’t be ready for the anticipated July 23 release date.
“While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don’t feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23,” she tweeted, adding, “I’d rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard. When I’m ready, you’ll be the first 2 know!”
So, not only is the album pushed back…but it’s pushed back indefinitely!? This album has already had several tentative release dates, though, so seeing it get pushed back again isn’t all that surprising. Plus, excluding a Christmas CD in 2010, this will be Mariah’s first new album since Sept. 2009, so chances are she wants to make a good impression.
After announcing the news, Mimi retweeted a few of her fans giving their assurance that they’d wait as long as she needed them to for the new music. Time to get crackin’, girl!
