Update: Bruno Mars’ mother died on Saturday, June 1, in Hawaii of a brain aneurysm.
In sad breaking news, Star magazine has exclusively learned that Bruno Mars‘ mother Bernadette Hernandez, 55, has been admitted to a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii and is in critical condition.
Family member Anito Sojot says the family is distraught and banding together in this very difficult time.
“Bernadette is in hospital and the grandkids are all here, I’m looking after them,” Anita says. “The family is on it’s way here right now and we are going to discuss what to do next.”
Bruno, 27, has never been shy about declaring his love for his mother. In his hit song “I Love You Mom“ Bruno sings, “I love you Mom, you are my favorite girl. I love you Mom, you’ll always be my favorite girl.”
After being nominated for seven Grammys in 2011, a glowing Bernadette gushed, “Bruno I am so so proud of you. I knew this was going to happen but not to this extent.” She adds, “I still think of him as my baby and keep forgetting he is a man.”
