Cats rule the internet, and their queen is Lil Bub! The four pound, almost-two-year-old tabby has been a viral sensation ever since her debut in late 2011. She’s racked up close to a million hits on Youtube, 100,000+ Facebook fans, and a whole lot of Instragram love, and now she’s the toast of the Tribeca Film Festival as the subject of a brand new documentary.
Lil Bub and Friendz charmed festival goers — and co-founder Robert DeNiro — with the fighting feline’s sad backstory and triumph over long odds. Her unique, goggle-eyed look is actually the result of a combination of birth defects suffered as the runt of a feral litter. When owner Mike Bridavsky first adopted Lil Bub, her veterinarian didn’t expect the cat to live past a few months.
But Lil Bub beat the odds to become “the cutest cat on the internet” and have her day at Tribeca – next stop, a book of Lil Bub photos due out later this year.
