Kirstie Alley Desperate To Be On The View!

Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Ballroom Birthday Bash

Every (unemployed) celeb with the gift of gab is itching to land a spot on The View, but Kirstie Alley thinks that she would be perfect to fill Joy Behar’s soon-to-be open seat on the chat show.

“Kirstie loves TV and wants badly to land a permanent gig – she tried to get a talk show deal on her own but didn’t get any bites,” says an insider close to the unemployed actress. “She thinks The View would be a great fit for her brand of brash outspokenness.”

Plus Kirstie, who hasn’t had a paid gig since her turn on Dancing With The Stars, thinks the show could use her “top notch” comedy skills. “Kirstie loves the idea that she’ll be able to take part in rapid-fire ad-libbing, which she’s great at,” the pal explains, adding that Kirstie is putting on the full-court press to win the job. “She’s so hungry for the job that she’s been sending Barbara Walters audition tapes and buttering her up in gushy emails.

As Star exclusively reported, Joy is being forced out to make way for either Brooke Shields or Ali Wentworth, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck may not see her contract renewed either.

“Kirstie is confident she can get a lock on one of the open slots,” adds the source. “She’s bending over backwards to ingratiate herself to the remaining women, and she’s playing up her experience on TV.” So much for playing hard to get.
