'Not What You Think'

Vili Fualaau Reveals Secret Reason For Split From Mary Kay Letourneau

Are they really over for good?

VILI Fualaau, who goes by DJ Headline on the weekends, won’t be hosting “Hot for Teacher Night” in Seattle anytime soon. The former teacher’s pet, 33, has filed for a legal separation from Mary Kay Letourneau after 12 years of marriage.
“It’s not necessarily what you think. Everything is fine between us,” said Vili, who claims that he was worried his wife’s status as a registered sex offender would hinder his chances of becoming a licensed distributor for “Cigaweed” marijuana cigarettes. “They do background checks on both parties. She has a past. She has a history.” And it’s one for the books.
Married with four kids, Mary Kay, now 55, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child in 1997 and served more than seven years in prison for sleeping with her then 12-year-old student, Vili. Soon after she finished her sentence, the couple, who share teenage daughters Audrey and Georgia, exchanged vows in 2005.
But if the former sixth-grade teacher was truly on board with Vili’s extracurricular activities, then why did she file a petition with the court to have her husband’s case dismissed the very next day?
“I get the feeling there are problems in the relationship that Vili’s not admitting to,” a source tells Star. “If Vili ever left Mary Kay — who basically destroyed her whole life for him — I’d worry that she would harm herself. She was unstable to begin with, and Vili is her everything.”
