Is Harry Making An Engagement Ring Out Of Princess Diana’s Tiara?

Prince may propose to Meghan Markle with mom’s jewels.

Rumors are flying that Prince Harry has solicited the services of crown jeweler Harry Collins to fashion an engagement ring for girlfriend Meghan Markle from a piece that famously belonged to his mother, Princess Diana. The late princess wore the art deco emerald and diamond stunner as both a headband and a choker. It has been said that after Diana died each of her sons was permitted to have a keepsake from her belongings. Prince William chose a Cartier watch while Harry chose his mother’s famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring. The agreement supposedly was that the ring would ultimately go to whichever brother became engaged first, and that of course was Will, who proposed to Kate Middleton on a trip to Kenya in 2010. Prince Harry has been dating Suits star Meghan for some time, and it’s apparently getting very serious. Kensington Palace publicly confirmed the relationship in November 2016 when the prince became concerned for Meghan’s safety. The couple recently returned from Jamaica where they attended the wedding of close friend Tom “Skippy” Inskip. Guests reported witnessing some heavy PDA as Harry and Meghan were spotted kissing on the balcony of their villa and holding hands as they strolled about town. After the nuptials the lovebirds remained in Jamaica on holiday for a week before Harry returned to London and Meghan to Toronto. Friends of the pair report that while her show was on hiatus, Meghan was practically living with Harry, and even cooked for the prince who is utterly smitten with the star. While it may be heartbreaking that Princess Diana will never have a chance to meet her son’s future wife, having a ring fashioned out of a family heirloom would be an extraordinarily romantic way to join together the two women Prince Harry loves most in the world.
