Taylor Swift Reveals Lena Dunham & Jack Antonoff Inspired Song on '1989'

She may not be getting any inspiration from her own love life lately, but luckily, Taylor Swift has some lucky-in-love friends to write about! The singer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, and revealed that her best friend Lena Dunham and songwriter pal Jack Antonoff inspired a track on her new album 1989.

During the interview, Jimmy Kimmel questioned the 24-year-old about some of the song lyric’s she’s been posting on Instagram as a teaser to the record’s release, one being, “One night, he wakes/strange look on his face/pauses, then says “you’re my best friend/and you knew what it was/he is in love.” The song is a bonus track.

“I wrote it with my friend Jack Antonoff who’s dating my friend Lena, who you know, and Jack sent me this track to this song, just this instrumental track he was working on, and immediately I knew what the song needed to be,” she explained. “I wrote it as kind of a commentary on what their relationship has been like and so it’s actually me looking in and going, “If this happened and that happened and that happened,” then that’s how you know you’re in love.”

Of course, with the album’s release just a few days away, Taylor also had another surprise in store — she shut down Hollywood Blvd. to perform her songs “Shake It Off” and “Out of the Woods.” No big deal.
