When it comes to love, Laura Dern has had some bad luck. She was engaged to Billy Bob Thornton when he eloped with Angelina Jolie in 2000, only for singer Ben Harper to blindside her with divorce papers in 2010. But sources say that hasn’t stopped Common from trying to persuade the Big Little Lies actress, 50, to give marriage another go!
“Common understands why Laura may have been reluctant to remarry in the past, but what they have is different,” says a source close to the couple, who secretly began dating nine months ago. The rapper, 45, has even got Reese Witherspoon and Naomi Watts putting in a good word for him.
Will it work? “It’s not that Laura doesn’t love Common. They have a wonderful relationship,” insists the source. “But he’s got a better chance asking Laura for her hand in common-law marriage if he wants to hear her say the words ‘I Do.’ ”
