Gabby Douglas was supposed to attend the 2016 MTV VMAs with her “Final Five” Olympic teammates but had to miss the event after a mouth injury landed her in the hospital!
She wrote on social media: “Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I’m doing ok! I had a complication from a prior injury that caused a cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth,” she explained. “Got it removed and feeling much better now! Thanks for all your concerns and prayers and HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days!”
After treatment and rest, the Gold medalist put on her best smile and waved to fans at Nike’s Autumn 2016 Tech Fleece Collection, Nike x Gabby Douglas x Teen Vogue.
