Bethenny Buries the Hatchet With Former Housewives Costar

When Bethenny Frankel left The Real Housewives of New York after three seasons, she wasn’t exactly BFFs with her costar, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps. Now that a few years have gone by, though, the ladies are burying the hatchet.

Bethenny welcomed the current RHONY cast member onto her talk show, where they, a bit awkwardly, hashed out the past.

“When I’ve had other kind of falling outs with people on television, it kind of is what it is,” the talk show host admitted. “I really meant it. It’s what happened. With you, we met in the beginning, and I remember us going out and having a great time. I always remember us having a great time socially and you were really cool.”

However, she added that her former pal’s completely separate on and off-screen lives eventually affected their friendship. “You were writing a book on being appropriate, and you had stuff going on in your personal life…and I had stuff going on in my personal life,” Bethenny explained. “So when we went out we would kind of have a certain dynamic, but then we are on the camera, and since your thing was how to be appropriate, I would always feel like, ‘yeah, but what about some of the other stuff we talked about?’ I would always feel like we couldn’t have a really honest friendship on the show.”

“Just because you’re doing a reality show, doesn’t mean you have to air out all your laundry,” LuAnn said, regarding her decision to keep parts of her life off of the show.

“Exactly,” Bethenny agreed. “I totally get it. And it’s difficult for you being the Countess and having etiquette be your platform.”

At the conclusion of their reconciliation, the recently divorced mom finished up, “I am good with you. I am straight with you. I am happy for you. I am happy you are here, I am happy for you, I love your family. I just want to say that I want to move on from anything negative we may have had.”

“Thank you,” LuAnn responded. “Excellent. I like the sound of that!”
