Hardly anyone can blame the former Amy Duggar for wanting to change her name to Amy King as soon as her and new hubby Dillon King said ‘I do.’
“It’s a relief. It feels like the stress is gone. I don’t have to be perfect anymore. I don’t have to worry about wearing long skirts,” she reportedly said right after the Sunday night ceremony on September 6. Which is a surprising statement from this Duggar, since her parents had a rocky start that went against the Duggar tide of morals. Star readers know that Amy’s parents, Terry Jordan and Deanna Duggar (Jim Bob’s sister), conceived Amy out of wedlock.
Star reported back in July that Amy and Dillon received some unwanted news that derailed their wedding plans—saying their wedding day wouldn’t air on TLC unplugged 19 Kids and Counting show after Josh Duggar’s scandals took the family name down. “Amy and myself apologize that we will not be able to share our special day with you all on the TLC network,” Dillon posted on social media to their fans.
Hundreds of friends and family members showed up for a country wedding at Horton Farms, which included Jim Bob and Michelle and their 18 children (Josh Duggar was MIA due to being check into rehab for sex addiction)—but the bride had some odd surprises during the wedding reception for Michelle and Anna Duggar, Josh’s wife who he admitted to cheating on.
After what Josh caused his family, Amy whipped out a couple of gift cards—Michelle received one to her favorite restaurant, Anna got one to go get her nails done. This may have not been the time and place to hand out the plastic pity-cards, but apparently Amy thought it was just right in an awkward sort of way.
