Meeting The Parents — How Blake Shelton’s Mom & Step-Dad REALLY Feel About Gwen Stefani

Meeting the boyfriend’s parents is always a nerve-wrecking experience, and first impressions can always go either way? So what did Blake’s mom, Dorothy, and step-dad Mike Sheckleford really think about the 46-year-old singer?

Turns out – they loved her! According to what long-time Shelton family friend, Marilyn Philips, exclusively told RadarOnline, "Gwen and Blake seem to be a perfect fit. I think it’s great he’s dating Gwen. They say opposites attract and this is a perfect example. Blake and Gwen are essentially from two different worlds so it must be exciting for them,” Marilyn explained.

She also seems to think the couple are a great match, despite that fact Gwen’s visit to Oklahoma was nothing less than a culture shock. “I think when Blake introduced her to the family here it’s the most country she’s ever been,” Marilyn admitted. “She’ll have to get used to it. He took her to all the local joints. There’s not a Starbucks within 50 miles of here!”

Gwen might have been ever a bigger hit with the locals then Blake’s ex-wife, 32-year-old Miranda Lambert! According to Justin Perry, who is a long-time friend of the Shelton family, “Whenever Miranda would come in she wouldn’t want to take any pictures with us.”

“[Miranda’s] a very cold person, very stuck up, you know?” Jerry added. “She would try to act like a bigger celebrity than him.” But unlike Miranda, Jerry explained, “Gwen’s no country music singer. She’s everything he’s not had before. Maybe that’s what he needs right now,”

But if the approval of both Blake’s parents and that of the locals weren’t enough, Jerry thinks Gwen still has one more test to pass. “She’ll probably have to go hunting with him!” Jerry stated. “I’ll happily teach Gwen how to fire a gun and call out a few elk. We’ve got a pink camouflaged gun if that’s to her fancy.”
