The Shoun family's children, between the ages of 20 months and 23 years old, live in a shack. Their city is so poverty-stricken that Leida had to drop out of school — something that didn't sit well with the mother of six.

“We cannot afford it,” Leida told Angie. “It is $5 per subject per month per child — too much for us. But I want to help other people, and be a good example for my family.”
