The 47-year-old sat down with Robin Roberts
to discuss his memoir, Every Little Step
, and revealed intimate details of his personal life with his deceased ex-wife and daughter.
First, he claimed that the first time he saw Whitney do drugs was on their wedding day — writing in his book that he found her "hunched over a bureau snorting a line of coke."
"The drugs wasn't her," he went on to explain. "She did drugs but the drugs didn't do her. She knew how to handle herself." He noted that her drug addiction "only made me love and want to protect her more."
He adamantly denied pushing Whitney — who died at 48 — into taking harder drugs, and insisted in the 202/20 interview that he never let Bobbi Kristina — who died at 22 — see them do drugs.
Bobby also revealed how he feels about his daughter's death being ruled a "mystery. " saying, "It's not a mystery to me. The same thing that happened to my daughter happened to Whitney. There's only person that was around both occasions."
When the 55-year-old Good Morning America
anchor asked if he was referring to Nick Gordon
, he refused to say his name, but commented that "he knows what happened. I don't know what happened that night, but he does."
