Sometimes, even celebrities don’t just get everything handed to them! On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Barbara Walters revealed a little secret about her cohost, Jenny McCarthy, that the actress has kept quiet for ten years.

“In the interest of information, one of us, that one — you tried out to be a Bachelorette and you did not make it!” the 84-year-old revealed, pointing at the show’s newest member.

“No one knows that!” Jenny gasped. “When I got a divorce, I was lonely. I needed to be loved. I was single and I loved TV. Put those together and I thought, ‘Brilliant!'”

Unfortunately, even when the star had her agent call ABC, it wasn’t that easy. “They said, ‘No, we’re not using celebrities at this time. Sorry,'” she admitted. “That was ten years ago…so, pffft…”

Luckily, the 41-year-old is now happily dating Donnie Wahlberg.

During the episode, Jenny also commented on another issue which hit close to home — Shia LaBeouf’s recent comments about her ex, Jim Carrey’s, parenting. “You can attack myself, but don’t bring my children into it,” she said. “And I’m sure it’s the same for Jim.”

The former Disney star went attacked Jim’s parenting after the actor made a joke at his expense at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. Shortly after, he apologized. “It’s completely uncalled for and wrong,” Jenny continued. “Jim is a great father. He loves [his daughter] Jane more than anyone in the world. Shia did apologize, and Jim did take it, but the whole thing is, do not bring our children into it.”
