After media outlets began spitting out fresh gossip on August 3 about Will Smith divorcing Jada Pinkett, the Men In Black actor had just about enough, and in an uncharacteristic public address, he shut down the rumor mill once and for all on his Facebook page by making a statement: “Under normal circumstances, I don’t usually respond to foolishness (Because it’s contagious) But, so many people have extended me their “deepest condolences” that I figured – “What the hell… I can be foolish, too!” he exclaimed, “So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness…Jada and I are… NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!”
The proud and loving parents of Jaden, 17 and Willow, 14 are one of Hollywood’s most solid couples, with a 17-year marriage under their belt that has been prone to media attack, due to innuendo on both of their parts of an open marriage.
“Our perspective is, you don’t avoid what’s natural,” Will said in a Hollywood Life interview “You’re going to be attracted to people. In our marriage vows, we didn’t say ‘forsaking all others.’ The vow that we made was that you will never hear that I did something after the fact,” Will said in an interview in 2011. “If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, ‘Look, I need to have sex with somebody. I’m not going to if you don’t approve of it — but please approve of it.”
Jada, 43 has also expressed her views about natural feelings toward the opposite sex that can crop up even if you’re blessed with a very strong union, saying “We always have people that we’re attracted to that we talk about. That don’t stop just because you’re married. Somebody’s always gonna catch your eye. That’s real. Somebody’s gonna always be prettier than me, somebody’s always gonna be more in awe of him than me.”
Will went on to assure the world that he would never leave it in suspense if his marriage crumbled, ” I promise you all – if I ever decide to divorce my Queen – I SWEAR I’ll tell you myself!” # DumbPeopleShouldHaveToWearScarletD’s
The Magic Mike XXL actress supported her hubby’s declaration, later tweeting, “My king has spoken.”
