Tom Cruise appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on July 27 to promote Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation—the latest addition to the wildly popular franchise.

On fire and clearly feeling himself, the 53-year-old scientologist played the talk show host’s famous lip sync battle game, opening with a spot-on rendition of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face”—and feel his face he did—as well as his body and his hair, while he rocked out to the summer hit.

Fallon was floored by Tom’s talent, but was not to be outdone, so he did what he does best—a Rolling Stone’s song. “Under Cover of the Night” was his musical weapon of choice, and when he was done, the 40-year-old funnyman’s band faked the Top Gun out when they played a few notes of “Old Time Rock and Roll”—the song that Cruise famously danced and sang to in his underwear over 30 years ago in Risky Business. Tom laughed it off, noting that he couldn’t perform that song, because to do so would “not be fair”.

After a “one man duet” of Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”, Katie Holmes’s charming ex-hubby got down on his knees, alongside his crooning partner, to serenade a flustered girl in the audience with a passionate rendition of “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin.'”
