Willow Smith will never let us forget that she whips her hair back and forth and back and forth….
On June 18, the singer preformed a rare version of her hit song “Whip My Hair” at the Northby Advanced show on June 18 at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Canada. Willow’s live rendition of her song was interesting, to say the least. She gave it a jazz-R&B twist, turning it into a completely different song. The singer wore jeans and an oversized crop top. Sadly, she kept her hair up, so there wasn’t much for her to “whip.”
At only 14 years old, the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith released her debut single “Whip My Hair.” The video went viral and the song was way too catchy. Since 2010, Willow has released 13 singles, including collaborations with Nicki Minaj and her brother Jaden Smith. She is very Twitter-active, tweeting regularly to her 3.8 million followers about her music. Just last month, she tweeted “the ONLY reason why I create music (or anything at all) is because I literally have to or I will (no doubt) implode heart-first.” The star had no problem showing off her midriff doing dances moves at the NXNE concert in Toronto either.
Even though this song has been around for a few years, it is still extremely catchy. People have been doing mash-ups of this song for years, and one clever fan took to Sesame Street, dubbing the song to a puppet’s skit.
