Looks like things may not be as wholesomely bible thumping as the Duggar family would have you believe.

Josh Duggar admitted to sexually molesting little girls, including a few of his own sisters. He recently resigned his position as Executive Director of the Family Research Council, a Christian public policy ministry, based in Washington, D.C., possibly because there are no children there to fondle.

In a statement, the eldest son of the famous 19 Kids and Counting family, expressed his remorse: “Twelve years ago as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret.” He added, “We spoke with authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling.”

The molestation incidents took place in 2002 and 2003, when Duggar was 14, although the offenses were not reported to police until 2006. According to reports and his public admissions, Duggar would fondle the private parts of little girls who were awake, and also those who were sleeping. Claiming that he confessed his “past teenage mistakes” to her years before they married, Duggar’s wife Anna has accepted him and stood by his side. They have three children of their own together, with a fourth child – a little girl – expected in July of this year.

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, released a statement about Duggar’s resignation on their website:

“Today Josh Duggar made the decision to resign his position as a result of previously unknown information becoming public concerning events that occurred during his teenage years.

“Josh believes that the situation will make it difficult for him to be effective in his current work. We believe this is the best decision for Josh and his family at this time. We will be praying for everyone involved,” Perkins stated.
