On March 24, a rep for Mad Men star Jon Hamm revealed that the 44-year-old actor had just completed a 30-day stay at a rehab to address his issues with alcohol. But while Jon is said to be getting his life “back in order,” Star magazine is reporting that a rough childhood could have partly fueled his turn down the wrong path.
“What Jon went through early in life with his family could affect anyone adversely, and I think it contributed greatly to his problem,” a friend says.
Jon’s mother died when he was just a kid.
“A stomachache one day turned out to be an advanced cancer that spread rapidly through her internal organs,” Jon once said of her tragic death.
And then Jon rarely got to see his father.
“I would see him every other weekend,” Jon claimed.
But now, Jon has turned his life around and gotten back on the right track.
“It’s wonderful that Jon took the bull by the horns and addressed his problem,” his friend told Star.
