Too soon? Definitely too soon.
Bill Cosby made an appearance in London, Ontario on Thursday, and reportedly made quite the inappropriate joke about drugging drinks, especially in light of the recent sexual abuse claims against him.
During the show, the comedian paused for a moment when a woman stood up from her seat in the middle of his act. When she told The Cosby Show star she was going to get a drink, he allegedly quipped, “You have to be careful about drinking around me.” The comment, naturally, got a stir out of the audience, considering multiple women recently came forward and claimed the actor drugged and raped them in the past.
For the most part, however, the crowd seemed receptive of Bill, save for one audience member who shouted out, “We don’t love you Bill!” and, while being thrown out, added, “You are a rapist. I am being ejected because you are a rapist!”
Following the show, Bill issued a statement addressing the outburst. “Dear Fans: One outburst but over 2600 loyal, patient and courageous fans enjoyed the most wonderful medicine that exist for human-kind,” he said.”Laughter. I think you, the theatre staff (Budweiser Gardens), the event organizers and the London, ON Community for your continued honor and support. I’m Far From Finished.”
