Aspiring rapper Chester “Chet” Hanks, who goes by the stage name Chet Haze and just happens to be the son of the legendary Tom Hanks, makes no secret of his alcohol and marijuana use on his 2011 mixtape Get Hazed. But sadly, in the years since, it appears he’s graduated to harder stuff when it comes to his recreational drug of choice — and it landed him in rehab.

“Chet developed a problem with cocaine this year,” a source tells Star exclusively. “Of course, this was devastating to his dad and mom, Rita Wilson, but they’ve done everything they can to help him, and fully supported him in his decision to get sober.”

On Nov. 19, Chet, now 24, displayed his strength in an emotional, brutally honest Twitter post, in which he admits to struggling with substance abuse since he was 16.

“Tom has pitched in to help Chet out of this nightmare in any way necessary,” the source adds. “He’s always preached that his children make their own way in the world, but of course he’ll be right there for them in any time of need.”
