Saturday Night Shambles!

As the creator of Saturday Night Live and its producer for 35 seasons, Lorne Michaels not only hires every single writer and cast member, but also personally approves each joke that makes it on air. But as the ratings continue to dwindle, he’s pointing the finger at everyone but himself!

“Lorne doesn’t trust his cast and grouses that they’re not on part with the likes of Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg,” dishes a source. “The show’s not working and Lorne is trying anything to keep it afloat.”

Anything except sharing his power. At 70, many feel he’s too old to be the lone authority on what’s funny and relevant. So instead of letting his young, hip cast have more creative control, he’s calling in favors from his A-list friends. “Lorne turned to jim Carrey and Chris Rock to host and help out, but they can only do so much,” says the insider. “It will be difficult for SNL to reclaim its glory days. Things aren’t looking good.”
