Shia LaBeouf Dishes on Strange Behavior & Night in Jail

He’s co-starring in a movie with Brad Pitt that hits theaters next weekend, but earlier this year, Shia LaBeouf was making headlines for much different reasons. The former Disney star spent months exhibiting strange behavior (including wearing a paper bag on his head that read ‘I’m Not Famous Anymore’), culminating with a night spent in jail for disorderly conduct in June.

Months later, though, it seems the troubled star is back on track, and during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he came clean about his wrongs.  “I had some hiccups, some judgement errors,” he admitted.

One notable moment from Shia’s year was his bizarre art exhibit, in which he sat on a table with a paper bag over his head and allowed viewers to come in one by one…and do whatever they wanted to him. “There was a lot of negativity online, so I wanted to see what this negativity’s about,” he explained. “Let’s invite it in!”

But the experience wasn’t a joke to the Fury star. “I was sitting there broken,” he said. “I was really, truly, apologetic. So I was sort of apologizing to the public in a way. I thought, for sure, people were going to come in and be super mean. But it wasn’t like that at all. It was very human. Once they came in there, everything changed.”

In fact, Shia found a common thread with his Internet haters. “I think we suffer from the same thing,” he revealed, “which is a lack of attention and love.”
