Gwen Stefani is literally on pins and needles these days! The singer has recently been paying multiple visits to Los Angeles-area acupuncture clinics — but not for back pain. Coming on the heels of reports that her marriage of nearly 12 years to Gavin Rossdale was at its breaking point, sources tell Star exclusively that the mom of three has been visiting the clinics as a form of fertility treatment in the hopes that a fourth baby will help to heal their relationship.
“Gwen and Gavin thought they were completely done having kids,” says an insider. “But Gwen had always hoped to add a daughter to the family, so she’s killing two birds with one stone by trying to get pregnant again as a way to have a fresh start with Gavin and keep their marriage alive. And a baby girl would make it perfect all around.”
The insider adds that Gwen “has been seeing her acupuncturists diligently. She has no problem using alternative methods to help her get pregnant. And the sooner the better, as far as her desire to bond again with Gavin.”
The Voice judge has admitted in the past that she’s had difficulty conceiving, and the treatments could be a step in the right direction, reports an expert. “Acupuncture definitely helps with fertility,” Brandon Lee, of Miracle Acupuncture in L.A., says. “It’s common amongst women having trouble getting pregnant.”
Things had become so strained between Gwen and Gavin, that they reportedly had taken to sleeping in separate bedrooms. But if their August vacation in St. Tropez is any indication — they were seen holding hands and acting lovey-dovey — Gwen’s babymaking plan may already be paying off.
“It was great to see them showing affection together for the first time in what seemed like ages,” the source says. Though Gwen’s rep denies Star’s story, the insider adds, “The constant intimacy they’re experiencing as they try for a daughter is obviously bringing them closer, and it seems like they feel more connected than they have in a long time. It’s almost like they’re on a ‘babymoon!’ Hopefully, having another child will secure their marriage for good.”
