Adele Nazeem was almost forgotten on Monday night, when Gwen Stefani stepped up to the mic at the 2014 Emmys and presented the Outstanding Variety Show award to “The Colbort Report.” Of course, she really meant to say The Colbert Report, but with the microphone turned up and millions watching, the error immediately went viral.
After the show, Stephen Colbert joked to ET about the mishap. “Evidently not a huge fan of the show,” he laughed, regarding The Voice judge. “But I’m a huge fan of hers! I want her abs. That’s what I aspire to.”
At the Academy Awards earlier this year, John Travolta made a similar public mistake, by introducing Idina Menzel as “Adele Nazeem” before her performance. The Broadway star took it in stride, though, and has laughed about it several times since — and luckily for Gwen it seems like Stephen will be doing the same!
