There may have been trouble in paradise between Kate Hudson and fiance Matt Bellamy earlier this year, but it looks like the couple is back on track. Still, the actress admitted on The View that, more than three years after her engagement, she still has no plans for a wedding.
“I think this goes back to growing up in an unconventional family,” she explained (Kate was raised by mom Goldie Hawn and the star’s longtime partner Kurt Russell). “I’m happy. We’re married. We’ve not kids and a family. We’ve got to find our time to have time together alone. We are in it.”
Despite being content now, Kate added that there is one reason the couple may decide to take the plunge. “I think if we do get married, it’ll be for the kids, really,” she revealed. “For us, we’re happy. I know that’s not necessarily a golden ticket, but there is something beautiful about the security of marriage and we’ll get there when we get there.”
The 35-year-old is mom to 10-year-old Ryder, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and 3-year-old Bingham, who she and Matt welcomed three months after they got engaged.
“I’ve got two children with two different fathers so that’s definitely unconventional,” Kate admitted of her family. “I guess, I’m actually a strict parent. I’m very strict. I’m strict when it comes to manners. I don’t like — I think kids get too much too fast. So Ryder, of course, wants a cellphone like every 10-year-old kid now, it starts around 10, and I’m just not…he can get a pager. When he’s 12.”
