Tim McGraw Controversy: Was It A "Slap" or A "Swat"?

Poor Tim McGraw.  Ladies can’t seem to keep their hands off the “Southern Girl” singer – and sometimes he has to teach them to mind their manners!

At least that seemed to be the case this week when a video shot at an Atlanta concert stop this Sunday caught the country star delivering a stinging rebuke to a fan that got a little too handsy.

The video, posted by TMZ on Thursday, shows McGraw wading into the crowd  during the performance of his hit “Truck Yeah”  in Atlanta this Sunday.  A few seconds in, one of his more excited female fans makes a grab for the country star’s leg, and another for his junk – and that’s when McGraw struck back with what looked like a slap.

Here’s what McGraw’s press rep had to say about the incident: “At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn’t let go as he was moving through the crowd… He instinctively swatted to try to keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), and so he could get to more fans who could slap hands with him before the end of the show.”

“He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his jeans from being torn,” the rep added.

Another video, later posted by TMZ confirms the rep’s claims: McGraw’s jeans definitely appeared torn as he looks down in surprise at the excited fan.

And this isn’t the first time that a fan has gotten too close for comfort with McGraw – in 2007 another shameless fan grabbed McCraw’s goodies at a show in Lafayette, LA – earning the wrath of McGraw’s superstar wife Faith Hill.

“Somebody needs to teach you some class, my friend,” said Hill at the time. “You don’t go grabbin’ somebody else’s, somebody’s husband’s balls, you understand me? That’s very disrespectful.”

Apparently not all of McGraw’s fans were listening.
