For the first time, the most exciting drama on The Real Housewives of New Jersey is behind the scenes. The ladies have spent five years telling us that blood is thicker than water, but a family feud sits at the center of season six’s rejiggered lineup.
Fan favorite Dina Manzo is coming back after being MIA for three seasons, and her return sent the ladies scurrying. Gone are estranged sister Caroline Manzo (to shoot a spin-off) and sister-in-law Jacqueline Laurita (reportedly canned after a Dina power play). So who’s left for a RHONJ fan to love — or hate?
Somehow, the last original Housewife standing is Teresa Giudice, who’s currently facing federal fraud charges (Husband Joe might get locked up, then deported). As expected, the drama swirling around the pair’s legal troubles has everyone ducking for cover — even the newbies. “It’s a really sad situation,” Nicole Napolitano, a divorcee who works in the private jet industry, tells Star. “As a mother of two, I cannot imagine going through that every night. It’s a nightmare.”
Nicole will have some company as she joins the RHONJ cast with her older sister, Teresa Aprea. Well, older by two minutes anyway, because they’re identical twins. “Teresa and I have each others back, but if something gets us angry, we’ll definitely call each other out!” Nicole tells Star.
With filming wrapped, both sisters can agree to hating another new addition to the cast, Amber Marchese, the mother of four who is old friends with Melissa Gorga and hosts a very fancy (and boring) party in the premiere. “We were friends in the beginning, but we left off not speaking,” Nicole says, without spilling the juicy details. “Right now, I don’t have any intention of talking to Amber off camera.”
Teresa A., whose husband, Rino, owns two Italian restaurants in New York, feels the same way. “Amber is not someone I would hang out with if I’m not getting paid for it,” she admits. “We’re just business associates.” Could Amber be behind those rumors that Teresa A.’s husband cheated? Time will tell.
Right now, it’s just good to see the new Teresa trash-talking just like the old one. “You’re going to deal with the nasty, disgusting people in life,” she says. “I can deal with it. Bring it on, girls!”
RHONJ season 6 premieres Sunday, July 13 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
